For working on small woodwind instruments, our Woodwind Work Fixture supports the instrument above the workbench positioning it closer to eye level while allowing the technician full use of both hands.
Instrument body joints easily mount in either direction onto pegs and are held safely and securely in place while still allowing the technician to quickly reposition and rotate the body as needed. Height easily adjusts up to 9" (23cm) above workbench surface.
Pegs and fixture are precision machined using Delrin® and 6061 T6 aircraft quality aluminum. Includes 3 pegs designed for holding:
The fixture's mounting base installs into the workbench top and is typically positioned approximately 8-9" (21-23cm) left or right to the center of the work area. Once initial height setting is made no further adjustments are generally necessary. Fixture just slips into mounting base, desired peg inserts into fixture top and instrument slides onto peg ready for work. When not in use the fixture can be set aside and all that remains on the workbench is the Delrin® base with its low profile top - actual protrusion above workbench surface is 3/8" (9.5mm) high by 1-3/4" (44mm) diameter.
The upper base assembly with thumb screw is used for height adjustment and also works to set how the fixture swivels. Mount assembly onto fixture's shaft (as shown below) with the two pins facing down to engage holes in the indexed base. Or for continuous 360° swivel mount assembly onto fixture's shaft with the two pins facing up.
The Woodwind Work Fixture eliminates much of the frustration encountered with the instrument rolling around on the workbench as well helps to eliminate potential for scratching and marring the instrument finish. Guaranteed to save time on any type of job ranging from simple adjustments to complete repads and restorations.
Order additional bases to use the fixture at other work stations throughout the shop.
