Replacement flex coil for our #2550 FLEX ROD. Includes 1/4" (6.35mm) diameter x 62" (157cm) length flex coil and compression ferrule. (For replacement cable with threaded end see item #2552.)
Installation Instructions:
- To remove the old cable you will need wire cutters to cut off the end of old cable. Locate the compression ferrule on the back end of the old cable and cut the wire as close to the compression ferrule as possible. After wire is cut, loosen 'T' Knob thumb screw and slide old flex coil with cable out the front end of the flex rod housing.
- Insert the new flex coil into the flex rod housing and with about 12" (30cm) of the coil protruding from the back end of housing tighten the 'T' Knob thumb screw. Reinstall the old cable by inserting the cut end into the front end of the flex coil and run it all the way through the flex coil.
- Next slide the flex rod's retrieval handle back onto the cable, and then slide the new compression ferrule onto the very end of the cable. Use a micro press to crimp ferrule. Before crimping, make sure the ferrule is positioned all the way onto the cable with no more than 1/8" (3mm) of the cable sticking out from the end of ferrule. If no micro press is available, use a heavy duty pair of pliers with teeth to compress ferrule, and finish off by laying ferrule on a flat surface and with a blunt chisel and mallet make one or two good crimps. Ferrule needs to be securely attached to cable!
